Captain Disaster the Computer Game is the main home of the Captain Disaster adventure games and related projects by Dave Seaman. The site brings together information on the games themselves, along with screenshots, trailers, walkthroughs, media coverage and occasional side projects. Most of the focus is on comedy adventure gaming, with a mixture of freeware releases, commercial titles and experimental smaller works. No generative AI is used in any of the Captain Disaster games. I do experiment with AI in other contexts, and where I've blogged about these, I clearly indicate this.

The Captain Disaster Collection - reduced this Wednesday and Thursday

From 08:00 (PST), The Captain Disaster Collection will be available for just $1.99 (instead of $2.99) for 48 hours.

Reviews so far:

"Think Red Dwarf meets Hitchhiker's Guide meets all of your other childhood favourites. Highly readable, highly nonsensical, highly recommended."  5 stars

" a sci-fi parody with lots of silly humor, weird characters and wild ideas. In its best moments it evokes the spirit of Douglas Adams... this little ebook with its fast-paced writing style is highly entertaining"  4 stars

"definitely worth checking out if you love sci-fi comedies...  You'll soon find yourself fully immersed and waiting on the edge of your seat for what comes next."  5 stars

Editor's note (14.04.26) - this is an old post about a special offer on the ebook, but looking back at the comments, it inevitably led to someone asking about when the game was going to come out - inevitable I suppose, given that this site is primarily about the games. Also, it is nice to know that someone was looking forward to the game enough and cared enough to ask the question. Although it should be noted, the stories came first, then the games 😁

Testing phase finished...

... we're hopefully less than a week away from the final Release Candidate people and then, unless something goes horribly wrong, releasing to the wild world very shortly after that.  I will be pre-releasing it to my patrons a certain time before the public release, although I am not giving you specific dates just yet.

Released - Captain Disaster: The Dark Side of the Moon (Kindle eBook)

My original plan to release this for free doesn't seem quite in line with what the Amazon self-publishing tool will let me do, so I'm afraid I'm going to have to ask for your money for this.  Not that I don't need the money :-p - if I sell about 50,000 of these things I could be debt-free!

Er... anyway, release details on my writing blog, and of course you can now find it on Amazon.  It's a 10.5K word short story based on the plot of the game, although it branches out from what's in the game at several points as well.

Don't forget you can still get the game for free (original and voiced versions available) at GameJolt whilst we finish up bug clearing of Death Has a Million Stomping Boots.
