Captain Disaster the Computer Game is the main home of the Captain Disaster adventure games and related projects by Dave Seaman. The site brings together information on the games themselves, along with screenshots, trailers, walkthroughs, media coverage and occasional side projects. Most of the focus is on comedy adventure gaming, with a mixture of freeware releases, commercial titles and experimental smaller works. No generative AI is used in any of the Captain Disaster games. I do experiment with AI in other contexts, and where I've blogged about these, I clearly indicate this.

The Short Stories

Captain Disaster began life way back in 1999, or at least I think that's when it was - as a short story published in the independent press magazine "Visions". I believe it had a circulation of about 150. Anyway, the first episode proved fairly popular so I wrote some more - if I recall correctly, I wrote episodes 2-5 that were published sometime in 2000 in the same magazine.

An ebook collection of the original (or slightly edited, I don't remember now!) 11 episode has been available on Amazon since 2016. Later I started doing a new edit and releasing them along with an audiobook version which I released on Itch - the plan had been to all 11 episodes again, but eventually I did 5 and lowered the price accordingly, devoting the time to other projects as I was just struggling to get everything done.

Since then two more short stories (but longer-form, with a proper coherent plot instead of what basically amounted to "parody of the week" in the episodic format) have been released on both Amazon and Itch, with a third sitting stubbornly refusing to be finished (I will get to it, after Riskara has been released).

Anyway, I thought it might be nice to actually give at least some of the stories a home right here on this site as well. I'll put the links on this page as I post them over time.
